Craig Mitchell is an illustrious recording engineer whose career spans over three decades and crosses continents. He first cut his teeth in the 1990s, recording for his reggae band in The Bahamas—a formative experience that set the stage for a lifetime in music. In 2003, Craig relocated to Canada to earn his degree in recording engineering, where he studied under legendary Canadian producer Jack Richardson (of The Guess Who, Alice in Chains, and more). During his time in Canada, he mastered a wide array of genres—from rock ‘n’ roll and reggae to bluegrass—earning the EMI Songwriting Award and touring the country with a bluegrass reggae band.
After graduating from Fanshawe College, where he honed both his technical and creative skills, Craig spent a year recording rock bands in Canada before moving to New York City. There, his talent quickly garnered attention: he collaborated with acclaimed film producer Luc Besson on the feature film Arthur and the Invisibles and produced music for HBO’s hit series Sex and the City. These high-profile projects inspired him to open his own state-of-the-art facility in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where he recorded Universal Music Group talent—including acts like Jae Millz and the Young Money team—as well as projects for Floyd Mayweather’s record label, TMT. His work even led to an on-screen role in Oxygen Network’s Sisterhood of Hip Hop.
Craig’s career continued to evolve when he joined forces with the Heatmakerz studio in Times Square. There, he contributed to the production of Desiigner’s hit single “Panda” and collaborated on projects for Jim Jones, Maino, Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel, and countless others. His growing reputation in the industry led to a role as Audio Director at Google’s New York City campus, where he oversaw innovative audio projects and worked alongside talents like Will Smith, Mario Batali, and John Boyega. Prior to Google, he further demonstrated his versatility as an audio engineer with iHeartRadio/Clear Channel, managing live in-house performances and crafting engaging radio content.
In the post-pandemic era, Craig returned to his Greenpoint roots by launching a newly built recording studio. There, he recorded with reggae luminaries such as Kashief Lindo, Yami Bolo, and Sizzla—as well as emerging voices like Selah Marley. Most recently, his expertise in live sound landed him a position with Live Nation at Irving Plaza, where he served as Front of House Audio for high-profile acts including Tate McRae, DragonForce, and Jerry Cantrell.
In addition to his extensive hands-on experience, Craig is a Certified Pro Tools Engineer and a member of the Audio Engineering Society. His proficiency spans industry-standard platforms such as Pro Tools, Solid State Logic, and Dante, and he is highly skilled with audio consoles including Midas, Yamaha, and Digi Co. With over 25 years of delivering cutting-edge recording, mixing, and live sound solutions, Craig Mitchell continues to shape the soundscape across studio recordings, film, television, and live performance arenas.
